After Hours Nurse Advice Line
If you need medical advice or referrals after Student Health Services is closed, you can call the After Hours Nurse Advice Line at 1-888-594-5281. There is no charge for current SDSU students to discuss their own medical problem.
The After Hours Nurse Advice Line is staffed by trained medical staff who can answer health-related questions and help you decide:
-if you need to seek immediate medical care,
-if you can take care of yourself at home,
-if you should make an appointment at Student Health Services.
The Advice Line is meant only to assist you in making medical decisions. If you feel you have a life-threatening emergency, please seek immediate medical attention! Remember that you are responsible for your medical care and its related costs. Student Health Services can not reimburse costs of medical services received outside the clinic. It is important and recommended that you consider obtaining supplemental health insurance to cover any additional or emergency costs.
If your medical need is urgent, you may be directed to visit an urgent care facility. Below is a list of several urgent care facilities in San Diego County. Locate the nearest facility to your neighborhood. This list is not exhaustive nor is it intended to endorse one urgent care center over another. While most urgent care centers are open 7 days a week, you should call ahead of time. Urgent care facilities are less costly than hospital emergency rooms.

Emergency Services
If you have a medical emergency the list below is a partial list of San Diego County hospitals. Most of these hospitals accept patients qualified for County Medical Services (CMS). (Students who have no insurance and who meet financial requirements may qualify for CMS. Ask about CMS when checking into the emergency room.) Emergency room care is expensive. If your situation is NOT life threatening, call the After Hours Nurse Advise Line for the best approach to medical care for your situation.
