* Additional fees apply for all Specialty Care services (see Fee Schedule for list of current prices). Students are never denied care due to an inability to pay for specialty care at the time of their visit. Financial arrangements can be made if necessary.

Dentistry

Our dentistry suite is equipped with several dental bays each with digital x-ray and TVs for patient viewing and comfort. Dental services include preventive care such as comprehensive exams and cleaning, x-rays, fillings, crowns, oral surgery (extractions), endodontics (root canals) and cosmetic services (teeth whitening, Invisalign, and veneers). Services are available by appointment only please call 619-594-8918 to schedule your first visit.

Dermatology

A dermatologist is available three days a week offering evaluation and treatment for skin disorders.

Eye Clinic

The Eye Clinic offers basic eye examinations and contact lens fittings to SDSU students as well as faculty/staff. A wide selection of name brand and designer style frames and lenses are available at competitive prices (SDSU students receive a 25% discount on frames, spectacle and contact lenses, and sunglasses: both prescription and non-prescription). The optometrist is available Monday through Thursday and an optician is available Monday through Friday for frame adjustments, repairs, purchases, and scheduling appointments.

This clinic is not a VSP provider and is considered an out-of-network provider. As a result faculty and staff will need to pay up front costs and submit a statement of services to VSP for reimbursement.

Orthopedic Clinic and Care

An orthopedic surgeon is available once a week for consultation. Other orthopedic care is available Monday through Friday and includes splinting, casting, athletic taping and home musculoskeletal rehab instruction. The clinic offers a full range of the latest ortho products to meet almost every need. Medical cases outside our scope will be referred to a local hospital and or medical center (Student Health Services is not responsible for fees or costs incurred outside our clinic).

Osteopathic Medicine

One of our physicians performs osteopathic manipulative techniques to alleviate discomfort, restore normal motion or manage pain. These services require a medical referral.

Physical Exams

We provide physical exams for the following programs or events: study abroad programs, SDSU School of Nursing, SCUBA classes, DMV, Peace Corp and school transfers. Appointment availability may take up to 3 weeks so please allow enough time in advance of your travel or event to complete a two-part physical exam (preliminary exams may require labs, injections, and hearing and vision tests). A preliminary visit must be completed before final exam is scheduled.

Travel Clinic

This clinic provides consultation on current immunization requirements and guidelines for students traveling abroad. A physician or nurse practitioner will review your travel itinerary and make recommendations based on current guidelines for international travel (see the Immunizations page for more details).
