due to an inability to pay for specialty care at the time of their
visit. Financial arrangements can be made if necessary.
Dentistry
Our dentistry suite is equipped with several dental bays each with
digital x-ray and TVs for patient viewing and comfort. Dental services
include preventive care such as comprehensive exams and cleaning,
x-rays, fillings, crowns, oral surgery (extractions), endodontics
(root canals) and cosmetic services (teeth whitening, Invisalign,
and veneers). Services are available by appointment only please
call 619-594-8918 to schedule your first visit.
Dermatology
A dermatologist is available three days a week offering evaluation and
treatment for skin disorders.
Eye Clinic
The Eye Clinic offers basic eye examinations and contact lens fittings
to SDSU students as well as faculty/staff. A wide selection of name
brand and designer style frames and lenses are available at
competitive prices (SDSU students receive a 25% discount on frames,
spectacle and contact lenses, and sunglasses: both prescription and
non-prescription). The optometrist is available Monday through
Thursday and an optician is available Monday through Friday
for frame adjustments, repairs, purchases, and scheduling appointments.
This clinic is not a VSP provider and is considered an out-of-network
provider. As a result faculty and staff will need to pay up front
costs and submit a statement of services to VSP for reimbursement.
Orthopedic Clinic and Care
An orthopedic surgeon is available once a week for consultation.
Other orthopedic care is available Monday through Friday and includes
splinting, casting, athletic taping and home musculoskeletal rehab
instruction. The clinic offers a full range of the latest ortho
products to meet almost every need. Medical cases outside our
scope will be referred to a local hospital and or medical center
(Student Health Services is not responsible for fees or costs
incurred outside our clinic).
Osteopathic Medicine
One of our physicians performs osteopathic manipulative techniques
to alleviate discomfort, restore normal motion or manage pain.
These services require a medical referral.
Physical Exams
We provide physical exams for the following programs or events:
study abroad programs, SDSU School of Nursing, SCUBA classes, DMV,
Peace Corp and school transfers. Appointment availability may take
up to 3 weeks so please allow enough time in advance of your travel
or event to complete a two-part physical exam (preliminary exams
may require labs, injections, and hearing and vision tests). A
preliminary visit must be completed before final exam is scheduled.
Travel Clinic
This clinic provides consultation on current immunization
requirements and guidelines for students traveling abroad. A
physician or nurse practitioner will review your travel itinerary
and make recommendations based on current guidelines for
international travel (see the
Immunizations
page for more details).
